TEFL Certification Programs (English Teacher Training)

"...one of the better-known programs in the country."
The Wall Street Journal, September 13-14, 2008.

A leader in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL/ TESOL*), The Boston Language Institute has developed a unique program for those who would like to teach English in the United States or abroad. Since 1981, the Institute has been an innovator in the field of English and foreign language teaching and, since 2000, in the field of English language teacher training.

The TEFL Certificate Program offers trainees the opportunity to learn through interactive skill-building activities. The Institute’s seasoned and dedicated teacher trainers, a team of 15 who have served the Institute for up to 8 years each, will support you day in and day out in identifying your strengths and overcoming your challenges as a teacher. Both novices and experienced teachers have benefited from our program.

Extensive one-on-one coaching in a maximum class size of 12 is just part of the Institute’s foundational commitment to client service, as is the job support that continues for as many years after the program as you choose to call on us – and, with few exceptions, at no extra charge. At The Boston Language Institute, you will learn to create your own teaching materials as you teach actual ESL students in supervised practice sessions. What’s more, as you learn to teach the 4 basic skills of language acquisition, you will develop an effective classroom management style, review English grammar, explore Business English, delve into cross-cultural issues and hone job finding strategies, whether in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) or TEFL.

The TEFL Certification Program is available as a 4-week intensive course or a 12-week, Saturday part-time course. In both our full-time and part-time programs, we make available special units for non-native teacher trainees. Since the principles of the program are transferable from language to language, the Institute’s TEFL Certificate Program will prepare you to teach any language you know. More than 1900 people have taken our program; our graduates teach in over 30 countries, including the United States, forming a world-wide network of alumni at the service of more recent graduates.
